Good Friday and Mourning in Jerusalem

On the road to Golgotha, Jesus was worried about Jerusalem and not his own plight. He was living in the divine function for which God had sent him: To destroy the works of the enemy and to call Jerusalem home.

As Jesus was walking to his death, he looked at the mourning women in Jerusalem and told them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ ” Luke 23:28-29
