Week 4 of a NEW 12-week LIVE Biblical Series with Adam W. Schindler.
We get into the plagues of Egypt this week with a discussion of the Nile turning to Blood. The Nile WAS the economy of ancient Egypt. But the thing that brought life to the people also brought death. God challenges this economic system head-on.
The economy He will establish at Sinai is based on a different ethic; one where the land belongs to God, they cannot sell humans as slaves and economics rests on a moral foundation, not one of power hierarchies or driven by an unquenchable thirst for capital acquisition.
Since God made each person in His Image, humanity bears an intrinsic value having no corresponding monetary worth. A God-designed or approved economic system must root fiduciary responsibility in individual human dignity.
“When you eat from the labor of your hands you will be happy and it will be well with you.” (Ps. 128:2)
